Buti na lang I have a Philam Life Cancer Life Shield plan to help me with my medical bills when I had Lung Cancer.


Last August 2008, I celebrated my 41st birthday. Two months after, I was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. My pulmonologist recommended a lobectomy to remove the mass in the lower right lobe of my lungs. One of my biggest concerns was where to get the money for the procedure. We have a savings fund but it was nowhere near the estimated cost of the operation. We also have a company-sponsored Philcare medical plan but it was also not enough. Two thirds of the Philcare benefit was already used up for the tests before the operation.

Buti na lang, I bought a Philam Life Cancer Life Shield policy way back November 2005. The proceeds funded my hospital bills and allowed me to focus on my physical and emotional preparations for the procedure.

Three years later, I am still alive to share my Buti na lang story... Thank you Lord! Thank you Philam Life!
